May Meeting and a visit from Shelley

Shelley, from Graceful Stitches, visited us at this month's meeting and shared her journey into the business of Longarm quilting.  Shelley just started her business and she shared tips on preparing our quilt tops for longarm quilting.  Some of the tips she shared were:
  • press your quilt top from the top and the bottom
  • get rid of all loose threads
  • use a lint roller to get rid of fluff and pet hair
  • remove all selvages from your backing
  • press seams open on your backing
  • make sure the backing is four inches wider than the top on ALL sides
  • purchase a good quality batting ( she suggested Quilters Dream batting)
Shelley shared her information pamphlet with the group.  She showed us some of the beautiful quilts that she has been working on.  We wish Shelley good luck on this exciting journey into the business of longarm quilting.  Shelley can be reached at  sadio@nb.sympatio.ca  Thanks Shelley!
