KR Quilters Quilt around the clock! Quilt show! Fan favorites!

When we are planning our show we want to have fun! We plan every little detail out to a theme and we decorate the heck out of it!  It makes for such a great time!

Our guild members are encouraged to enter their quilts for the publics viewing pleasure.

We typically do not opt for voting in multiple categories etc - we are not what I would call a 'competitive' show we are a 'come out and have fun' show! 

A show for everyone to show their wares and not worry that it's not perfect for the judges.  It makes for a fun show!

This year (and in past years too) we do encourage folks to find their favorite!  What a chore that is!

Did you see the quilts? Depending on your own preferences (or as my daughter says - voting criteria) its a chore in itself - I personally look at what is important to me in a quilt.  (For the record - that same daughter  didn't vote for my quilt.....dang kids! haha!) 

So with all that said - I don't know how you all made the decision on which quilt to vote for .... but they are pretty spectacular!

Quilt number 3 - by Betty Doherty It was a Crabapple Hill Pattern called "Walking in a winter wonderland".   

Betty hand embroidered this beautiful quilt and then she machine quilted it.

Just beautiful Betty! Terrific work!

The quilt with the second most number of votes was this Postage Stamp Quilt created by Ruth Tracy.

"Scrap quilts have always been my favourite and someday making a Postage Stamp was something I wanted to do. I started this quilt in 2021 never thinking I’d have it finished in a year. 

Christa Gunn, a fellow guild member, suggested I use a 1/2” border next to the 2 “ border and I love how it looks. Thanks Christa for your advice! The custom ruler work quilting was done by Susan Arbeau, another guild member. Thanks Susan, great job!"

There are 8,448 pieces to this quilt.....EIGHT THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED AND FORTY EIGHT!

(Having looked closely at this quilt... I will tell you that Ruth's piecing was so precise! Just beautiful!)

And finally our #1 fan favorite! The quilt receiving the most number of votes was a gorgeous one made by Betty Doherty!

Betty explained this was a "Wholecloth" row by row taught online by the late Jeanne Harrison.  Jeanne passed away before she could complete the series.   Each month they received a new patter row and a video of instruction and tips.  As I understand it - they were provided a pattern but were also provided options on what they could do.

Betty pieced and quilted this on her regular domestic sewing machine!  

 

So there you have it-  our top three quilts voted for by our guests! 

I think it's interesting that one has a ba-jillion pieces, one has 14 pieces but a ba-jillion stitches- both finished on a machine - but two different types of machines and the third had a tremendous amount of hand work, was finished on a domestic machine and had a 'medium amount' of pieces.  It takes all kinds doesn't it?  There are so many variations and options when it comes to quilting!
