June 2023 meeting

As June comes to an end and July is starting -  I am reminded that I forgot to upload the show and tell from our June 12 2023 meeting.  You would think that with all this rain it would be more on my mind.

But alas it is still spring/summer when the demands of life get the best of me!

This is the last regular meeting of the 'season' and we'll reconvene in the fall on the second Monday in September.  We always welcome new members to come and join us!

I have one guest blog post pending which I'll post in the coming weeks  - I would encourage anyone with the gift of gab to give me a shout if you want to be a guest as well :).  As long as its quilt related (not an advertisement) I don't see the harm!

First up in show and tell today is Marilyn with this four patch that she made for the comfort quilts - it is machine quilted.  Marilyn thinks this is the prettiest quilt!

Christa made this gorgeous one - take a look at the colors and that pattern!
all hand quilted - look at the texture on the back!
Place mats made by Debby H.
and this stunner as well!  Gorgeous use of colors!
Jodie made this one - I am sorry my photo doesn't do it justice :( I try really hard but sometimes my phone just doesn't get it right.  Can you see the mountains?
I did manage to take a nice closeup of the label on the back - isnt it remarkable?

The barn quilt workshop was a hit! this is one!

Linda made this small quilt - isn't the simplicity the charming part?

a nice table runner to use up scraps!

Pam made this with the QAYG technique - which was also a workshop! good job

my photography skills need work  - haha - this was a real stunner in person - I am going to blame it on the lighting! this was so pretty!
and the back!
Debbi bought this item from a local vendor while she was out and about.  She thought it resembled some of the barn quilts.

here's a crazy'type' quiltv - made using the QAYG technique -

and the backing!
Heres another !

as a member of KRQG it isn't hard to guess who made this one! Ruth and her subtle colors- so pretty!

Carlinda  -one of the program ladies - made these two barn quilts!
and this is another made by her using one of the "three yard quilt" patterns.  Carlinda used a technique that I call the  'Susies magic binding' (and not because that's my name - haha)  - ill link to it here:
it adds a sweet little flange to your quilt AND that doubles to bet you bound by machine, nice and neat.
as Carlinda can attest though - things are a bit 'backwards' to what you 'think' and there are many 'opportunities' to use your seam ripper!

one of the "quilt as you go" bags that are available now - where the batting is marked and you just lay down your fabric.  I'll post a link to missouri star so you have an idea - please shop local first :)

Heather completed this beauty- it is gorgeous!! and very very pink on the back!

Another barn board! as you can see the possibilities are endless!!

Janet showed this gorgeous paper pieced quilt  - what a beauty and what beautiful quilting!

YUM!!!1

Toni got these blocks from a swap table here at a guild meeting! She then used them to complete the QAYG workshop/day! isnt that fun!

And another barn quilt!

Trisha made this gorgeous one - it was part of a challenge at the Woodstock Quilt guild - I love it!!! look at those curves.

Trish's quilting is really noteworthy - as it fits so nicely with the piecing - I love how she replicated blocks in the negative space!

This was Joyce's project while watching her grandchildren in NFLD.  She didnt have many supplies but MAN did she make it work!!!! Beautiful!

Well folks! thats it for the June meeting! We start the fall of 2023 and we will see you again!

Note that there will be a couple more blog posts coming right up - right around July 10 or so as well as around late July.

Have a great summer!
