Comfort
Quilts by Joyce Slipp
Joyce and Heather showed the members a few
comfort quilts that were recently bound by Toni O’Brien and are ready for their
new homes. This is a quilt back which is as lovely as
the front.
This is the front of the lovely back above.
This quilt was done by Betty D. This will make a lovely comfort quilt for a
man which we need.
This is the front of one of the Quilt As
You Go quilts and it was done with decorative stitching by Jodi M.
Not sure who this beauty was done by but
the yellow really adds something to this quilt top.
This is one of the Wild Life Quilt Kits
that Andrea donated to the comfort quilts project. We weren’t sure who stitched this together
but it will find a good home.
Tips
and Tricks – Heather
Heather showed the ladies a project bag
that she made which she does so well.
She showed us her earrings then told us that they were made of wood just
like the monogram labels she got made by Blended Creations. Blended Creations makes all kinds of labels
in either wood or leather and they can have whatever your preference is on
them. Check them out on Facebook at
Blended Creations or email them at blendedcreations@outlook.com
if you are looking to by personalized labels for your projects.
Show
and Tell – Monday, May 8 2023
Heather Olmstead
This quilt was from a workshop hosted by
Krystyn Davis of Buttermilk Creek Quilts.
It was a nice coincidence that Krystyn did a pop up shop at our meeting
tonight. This is a Modern crazy patch
quilt from a workshop that Heather did with the Woodstock Guild.
Jodi McKeen
This is the King Size quilt that Jodi
started at our retreat in February. This
is for her son who is anxiously awaiting its arrival and requested it to be
king size. The colors are lovely shades
of green and teal. Beautiful work Jodi.
Rose Marie Jackson
Rose Marie shared with us a lovely floral
wall hanging with perfect pinwheels on it.
This wall hanging was intended to brighten up the living space and I
think it did the trick.
Christa Gunn
This wall hanging is for Christa and
Cliff’s front room where the library used to be. The walls were bare and needed some sprucing
up. Christa started this quilt at the
retreat in February. Gisele quilted the
“bubbles” on the quilt. Very nice color
coordination Christa!
Gisele Carr
Gisele attended a Felted Landscape course
at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. It was one of the courses offered through
their e-adventures program in the summers.
Gisele also shared with us her Quilt As You
Go project. The front is from Gisele's
scrap pile and has every color imaginable.
The back is created with batiks and makes this a lovely quilt that can
be reversible. Nice work Gisele!
Betty Doherty
This quilt was 15 years in the making. She bought the fabric before she even started
quilting. She pointed out that she ran
out of a certain fabric and had to improvise so she used the solid pink blocks
which compliment the floral prints and green in the quilt. She quilted it herself and did a wonderful
job.
Kathy Hildebrand
After new years to
gardening season is my prime quilting time. I have been trying to get all my
projects finished to concentrate on the garden. These two mean I am
caught up! This quilt with the stars helped Kathy deplete her scrap pieces - 5
inch squares and leftover pieces of binding. It was a modified Hidden Stars.
That one was quilted by Gisele.
The pattern for one was
called Warp and Weft and I quilted it myself with a walking foot.
Diane Henderson
This pretty in pink quilt is for a great
niece. You can’t see it well in the
picture but there are embroidered princesses and the name of the princess Rowan
is embroidered in variegated thread in the colors of the rainbow. Nice work Diane!
Reta Schmitt
This quilt is called a Wonky 9 patch which
is Reta’s first modern quilt. She said
it wasn’t as easy as it looked for her. The
colors are soft and complimentary Reta – fine job!
Thanks again Carlinda! you are a life saver!
