Guest Poster: Carlinda Daigle - November 2023 Workshop

 

Mini Charming Christmas Tree Workshop held on Saturday, November 25 was lots of fun.  The project wasn’t hard and we could have done it on our own at home but what fun would that be.  We had 10 participants including the facilitator, Carlinda, and we all came pretty close to finishing the tops of our projects.  We tweaked the pattern to suit our fancy and here are what we created.

This one was Helena’s and I love the simplicity of the single colored tree.  Well done Helena!

This lovely tree was created by Heather who used a charm pack and went outside of her normal color wheel.  The tealish colors really pop in this pattern.  Nice work Heather!

This golden tree belongs to Elaine.  The swirls on the end make it look like there are golden winds hugging the tree.  The bubbles in the background are huge snowballs.  Nice color selection Elaine!

This festive tree was created by Diane.  The holly and the pointsettia make this the perfect Christmas tree.  Great job Diane!

Don’t you just LOVE the outside border of this beautiful tree?  Colleen took no time at all to throw this Christmas tree together.  I love how she narrowed the border to frame the Christmas tree. 

Being a lover of purple this tree was created by Carlinda.  She thought she would shake things up a bit and make a Halloween Tree instead of a Christmas Tree.  The black border frames the tree nicely.  Good job Carlinda.

 What a stunning background!!  The tree really pops on this background and the golden fabric creates a magical combination.  Great job Betty!

Look at the birds in this Christmas Tree!!  This perfect blend of reds and greens make this tree stunning.  Nice job Pat!

Green, Green Tree!!  This beautiful tonal green Christmas Tree was created by none other than Nancy.  The background fabric is a great match as it looks like big snow flakes! Great color selection Nancy!

One of the members of our guild once said, “Patterns are just a suggestion.”  That was the case with this pattern as a slightly narrower border was the perfect balance.  The squares in the border were supposed to be 2-1/2” but it was felt they were too big and busy.  Nice work Joyce!

 Placemats for the Tiny Homes Residents

Here are photos of the placemats that were dropped off for Joyce and Ruth to donate to the residents of

the tiny homes. At the meeting Joyce felt we had enough and later in the week her and Ruth got

together to wrap the placemats. There were 81 in total and that was more than enough for the

residents. Thank you all for your continued support of this wonderful initiative and Merry Christmas to

Lovely reversible Christmas placemats.  These will bring the Christmas spirit.

  

Lovely deep blue fabric with a nice variety of color.

 

These placemats are 14” x 10” for those smaller kitchen tables.  Nice neutral colors.

 

Placemats with a hint of vitamin C.  The other side is a good contrast.

 Who doesn’t love red checkered anything?  These can be picnic themed on one side and eclectic on the other side.

 

These two placemats have a Navaho them to them and will look lovely in a tiny home kitchen.

 

This looks like a quilt as you go placemat.  June Tailor has a wide variety of these and they make perfect Christmas gifts. 

 

   

What can I say?  I love cats and these little cuties will bring a smile to anyone’s face.  

 

 

 

Rich colors that will work compliment a gentleman’s décor.  

 

Lemon and lime not just great for your summer time drinks but also make striking placemats.  

     

These baseball theme placemats will surely put a smile on the face of the recipient.  These are definitely a home run!

   

This Take Four placemat was one of our workshops a few years ago.  This pattern never gets old and it is a great way to test your color theory.  

 

  

What a lovely color combination and the red makes the taupe pop.  

 

These rich harvest colors will go nicely against the wooden interior of one of the tiny homes.     

    

Basic black and white with a touch of safari make these fun placemats for any tiny home.

   

Here is a great placemat for a gentleman’s tiny home that adds a bit of color in a subtle way.  

 

Red and white are a popular color together and that shows in these placemats.  The flip side is for the rainy days that you need sunshine.

  

Blue and gray go together no matter what shade they are.  These are a nice neutral color and pattern for any tiny home.

 

These beautiful nautical placemats are for that resident who was born, raised and grew up in a coastal area and has their heart still in their home town.  These will sweep the recipient away.

 

These placemats have a simple pattern but the colors make them a wonderful addition to any tiny home table.

What a sweet quilt! Love this! Wouldn't it be great to have one of these on hand when a new baby comes along?
