 Placemats for the Tiny Homes Residents

Here are photos of the placemats that were dropped off for Joyce and Ruth to donate to the residents of

the tiny homes. At the meeting Joyce felt we had enough and later in the week her and Ruth got

together to wrap the placemats. There were 81 in total and that was more than enough for the

residents. Thank you all for your continued support of this wonderful initiative and Merry Christmas to

Lovely reversible Christmas placemats.  These will bring the Christmas spirit.

  

Lovely deep blue fabric with a nice variety of color.

 

These placemats are 14” x 10” for those smaller kitchen tables.  Nice neutral colors.

 

Placemats with a hint of vitamin C.  The other side is a good contrast.

 Who doesn’t love red checkered anything?  These can be picnic themed on one side and eclectic on the other side.

 

These two placemats have a Navaho them to them and will look lovely in a tiny home kitchen.

 

This looks like a quilt as you go placemat.  June Tailor has a wide variety of these and they make perfect Christmas gifts. 

 

   

What can I say?  I love cats and these little cuties will bring a smile to anyone’s face.  

 

 

 

Rich colors that will work compliment a gentleman’s décor.  

 

Lemon and lime not just great for your summer time drinks but also make striking placemats.  

     

These baseball theme placemats will surely put a smile on the face of the recipient.  These are definitely a home run!

   

This Take Four placemat was one of our workshops a few years ago.  This pattern never gets old and it is a great way to test your color theory.  

 

  

What a lovely color combination and the red makes the taupe pop.  

 

These rich harvest colors will go nicely against the wooden interior of one of the tiny homes.     

    

Basic black and white with a touch of safari make these fun placemats for any tiny home.

   

Here is a great placemat for a gentleman’s tiny home that adds a bit of color in a subtle way.  

 

Red and white are a popular color together and that shows in these placemats.  The flip side is for the rainy days that you need sunshine.

  

Blue and gray go together no matter what shade they are.  These are a nice neutral color and pattern for any tiny home.

 

These beautiful nautical placemats are for that resident who was born, raised and grew up in a coastal area and has their heart still in their home town.  These will sweep the recipient away.

 

These placemats have a simple pattern but the colors make them a wonderful addition to any tiny home table.

What a wonderful giving group we have!

On April 1st the Comfort quilts and 12 Neighbors committee (Joyce and Ruth) organized a fantastic workday for the guild members to make some progress on our charity quilts.

"We had a great turnout (23) and made 5 tops, cut out 10 battings, cut 8 backings out of muslin, made one backing and 5 bindings. We had 1 quilt donated and 4 tops and 3 backings as well. Plus several people took projects home to complete. " 

 

April Meeting 2023 and Happy Birthday to a special lady!

Happy Birthday Mrs. Dunphy!  aka.....well we like to keep it clean!

Evelyn has been a long time member of our guild.  She always has a good word to say.  She likes to tease a little bit and can take it as much as she gives it.

She is always done up nice for us all - I only hope to look that good when I get there!

She's a simply wonderful lady who is a treasured member of our guild!!

Our April meeting program was a trunk show by one of our members, Janet Wright!

  

Unfortunately I did not get all of the photos at the start of the show and not the best photos  of all of her great work but at least you'll see a sample here!

I also could barely keep up with the photos let alone the dialogue!  

I got some of the notes but I'm sure I missed some others!

One thing I know for sure - Janet likes to try new things - and do them her way!!

While everyone at the Woodstock Guild was trying their hand at curved piecing - so was Janet! Here is her rendition!

Here's a Tula pink pattern- that Janet modified of course!  Once again we see those Twirly whirlys!

One of the Canada flag quilts - again modified - Janet wanted hers to say "O Canada" and she included a pride flag!

this one is based on based on a moth pattern - modified to Janet's liking  called - "An inch at a time!" (cause that's how she felt making it!)  

I didn't get a close up - but it was quilted (to death) by Andrea.

a side note - When Janet gives Andrea a quilt to quilt - her instructions are "quilt it to death and then quilt it again!" my kind of quilting!

Janet is a tractor puller and a CHAMPION tractor puller at that! She thought she'd have some fun with her mostly (if not all?) male counterparts - and made this Top Puller wall quilt hanging.

This one (sorry for the lack of photog skills) got Janet on the TV - twice - it was made during Covid.

This quilt was not made by Janet but given to Janet by 'her girls' - her friends made and gifted her this quilt.  One of her friends (Diane) accompanied Janet to help with her show!

This quilt was made for Janet's husband - she usually makes two- one to auction - and one for her husband.

Another beautiful quilt - paper pieced (but not the right way - I would argue it was the Wright way?) (no explanation given of what the wrong way was - haha)

Here's a beautiful applique quilt - Janet made one for a friend and liked it so much she  made one for her self!

I wish I had gotten a bit closer here - this is a One Block Wonder made with some Tula De La Luna fabric (if i recall correctly)

Finally - last but not least - this is Janet's latest paper pieced quilt! It's not quilted yet - its hot off the press after hours and hours of picking papers from the back!

Here we go show and tell!

First up is Kathy H who is trying to get herself all caught up so that she can hit the spring ground running (ok maybe not running - but outside hobbies!)

Kathy has been staching fabrics away to work on this and other projects- she buys a little here and a little there and then when she thinks there is just enough - she pulls it out!

Kathy wanted something to reminder her of the northern lights - this pattern had included some mountains - and 'there are no mountains in that part of Manitoba'! so Kathy removed the mountains and made it her own! Great work!  (Dot was a guest tonight and concurred it was a great representation!)

Kath was working on a pixelated quilt - she dug through her stash again and voila! a seahorse!!

Gisele has a new niece and she had intended on a beautiful collage quilt - as collage quilts are -  it was full of fusible and so it was too stiff for a baby quilt - too much 'crunch'!  So Gisele had to get to work and find a new one - we think she chose just right!  This sweet Llama quilt was a hit!

Betty has been busy! Now Betty doesn't like making bags but her sister had all the supplies - so she couldn't just let it be!  as you can tell from the next few photos - Betty and her sister kept each other busy!

a simply amazing Rope bowl! wow that's really good!!!!

This trivet holder was a hit!!! (I hope you can zoom in! its embroidered but stitched to the top of a 'rope' plaque (same idea as a rope bowl but flat).  

Betty finished up her Tree wall hanging as well! Beautiful!

Ms Evelyn (the birthday girl) brought this quilt top started in 2008!!  Its seen a few retreats but alas it's done! (I bet if this quilt top could talk we'd hear a thing or two.)  It is hand pieced for the most part - and she is going to hand quilt it as well.  

Diane S brought this quilt top she made - it was a mystery quilt at the Woodstock guild!  This one is for her husband!

Diane made this gorgeous pineapple quilt! So inspiring!

Heather and her bag!  I missed a picture of the bag in the bag! Sweet!

Christa showing us her pretty table runner!  She thought it would be a quick finish but it took a little longer than she remembered!  

Diane also finished her Tree wall hanging - she used a stiff 'batting' (stiff stuff) to get the lay and texture she wanted- so nice!

Debby has been busy these past few weeks! Not quilting but sapping! (OK It probably has a better name!) Delicious looking syrup!  💞

Debby also showed us Dotsy's travel bag!  Such a pretty bag!

We had such a nice night! Such beautiful work!\
