Highlights from Our Show

Our "Harvest of Quilts" show was a success even though it was damp and rainy outside.  485+ people attended and many folks commented that they loved the displays.  It was sad to see all the quilts folded up on the pews and ready to be taken home at 3:30 yesterday.  Thanks to everyone who worked on the committee, made cakes, organized the rooms, volunteered on the Friday and Saturday  and especially those who allowed their work to be shown.  AND THAT PRETTY MUCH INCLUDES EVERYONE IN OUR QUILTING GROUP!!  A special thank you to all the non-members (our husbands and friends) who helped us as well, we couldn't have done it without you.
Here are some pictures that highlight our show:

Colour Play

The Colour Wheel
At our October meeting, Brenda Dunsmore spoke to us about choosing colour.  She reviewed the colour wheel and how we can use it to pick complimentary colours or split complimentary colours.  She showed us lots of examples of quilts that were examples of using complimentary colours.  She also showed examples of quilts that contained a focus fabric and the other colours in the quilt were taken from the focus fabric.

Quilting at the Cottage

“Quilting at the Cottage” was a great success this past weekend!  The rain certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.  Seventeen members participated.  Some participants just visited and lots of stories and ideas were shared.  Many projects were finished, some new projects were started and the buzz of sewing machines filled the cottage.  The food was great and everyone agreed that we should do it all again sometime. Thanks, Evelyn for hosting the event. And thanks, too, to Ruth and Marilyn for organizing everything.

Here are some pictures from the day.  (Click on the Recipe Page, along the top, to view some of the delicious recipes that were shared on Saturday.)
