2016 November

Darcy welcomed members and guests and then Melanie introduced our Program guests. Sandra Palmer  is a rug hooker and Elizabeth is a certified rug hooking instructor.

They talked about the process of creating beautiful art work from wool, dying cutting hooking, framing and use of various textiles. There is a 4 day  beginners and advanced beginners course January 13&14, Feb 3-4 that will include a pattern, shading, design, stitching and finishing your piece.

Members are reminded to bring their stockings/mitts filled with items for the Men's Shelter to the Christmas Dinner in December.

Show and Tell

Jean showed off her wall hanging/table runners and cushion covers.

She made this large lap quilt using 11/2 inch strips of Christmas fabric she had and sewing them  into 12" blocks.

Susan began this flannel project 2 years ago at retreat. It was done with flannel pjs from Value village!

Christa finished her Christmas bargello table runner.

Susan A has been busy again. She added another full column/row to this quilt this month

Susan also did a wall hanging to replace her snowman and finished her workshop project.

JoAnn went to visit Jen D in Woodstock and made this bag while visiting.

Andrea used an online printing service to put her grandmothers recipe on linen for tea towels. (http://www.spoonflower.com/)

Seeing her grandmothers handwriting on tea towels will be a special treat!

This was a quilt along project from last summer and a quilt similar to Susan's.

Andrea used the services of Edge Squared Quilting Studio in Barnaby, NB where they instruct in long-arm quilting and rent their long arm to enthusiastic quilters. Andrea quilted these two panels in one day.

Jessie joined us this evening and brought her two quilts to show.
She and her daughter quilted 4 in one week. Her second quilt is her husbands memory quilt and contains many of his T-Shirts. A wonderful memory of him.

Elaine was busy completing several projects: her table runner for Art to Heart, her quilted Christmas Tree, a bag and a laptop case for monitors they use for her office.

Debbie has had a really busy month and finished her project from the stained glass workshop.  she then did another on modifying how it was done and a pretty christmas one with lots of bling!

Debbie used the Black Tie Affair pattern as inspiration and modified the width, block sizes and colors to do this wonderful quilt.

Last year she did table toppers for her sisters and decided to do one for herself and then did this Welcome wall hanging.

Donna made a number of Christmas gifts: clothes pin bags and then two large sets of placemats for her children.

Having personalized placemats and name bands for water glasses will keep her family organized and make sure that her husband does not get crumbs on her sons placemat, lol!

Debbie has been making bags for a craft sale while at a retreat in Woodstock. These bags are often made and donated by people going to chemo treatments. The second bag is made from material called Cows for Cancer

Kathy H finished her stained glass project from the workshop , made stitch and fold leaves
and a new bag

Leesa made four sets of pillowcases, a table runner and two nap mats for her grandchildren. that was a successful retreat in Grand Manan!

Nancy's project was for her grand cat and grand dog!

Nancy tool the Necessary Clutch course with Gail Mitchell and now stocks kits and hardware for making these wallets.

Joyce began this at retreat last year and completed this advent calendar complete with stuffed toys for one of her grandchildren!

Darcy  has been getting ready for a craft show and did several table runners.  This one is finished with zigzag instead of traditional binding. She has also quilted a chickadee, a salmon fisherman, made her Darcy Doodle sign and several pillows!
