2016 September

Heather O has returned to NB and brought in a sample of the beaver mitts with 4-string braids she made while in Lutsel K’e. Next month she will bring samples of projects she made while in Lutsel K’e and Hay River.

The quilt Heather had on display on the wall is one she made from a pattern that uses lots of buttons. Greeters will bring a display quilt each month.

Linda D’s first project was from fabric she purchased the previous Saturday at a yard sale! The next is one from material she won during the fat quarter draw and hand quilted. Her summer project was doing many wall hangings from Patch Abilities

Ethel finished her “I Love Elvis” quilt. She did two more quilts and her nieces have been helping her with free motion quilting. She also made a bag while she was away and a number of pillow cases.

Gail s made this Missouri Star “Woven Patches” which was quilted by Lansdown Studios.

Her Underground Railroad quilt was made with civil war reproduction fabrics and hand quilted.

Sandra C made this quilt for the wife of a co-worker as a surprise.  It will be going to their cottage.

Melanie had some batiks to use and kept sewing until she had a quilt!

Wendy and Janet did this “Disappearing Pinwheel with a Twist” from a Missouri Star tutorial as a wedding gift for a nephew. It was quilted by Nancy at Lansdown Studio.

Andrea says a former neighbor commissioned her to make a quilt with fall colors for his wife so she quilted this “Metro Medallion with a quick curve ruler.

The next quilt is for a friend that she quilted by machine and then finished the binding by hand. What detail!

Debby H made one quilt this summer but also helped her co-workers organize and sew a quilt for a coworker having a baby.

She also did this table runner and mug rug

Debbie D completed this quilt that included block challenges from last year

Darcy made a baby quilt for a friend with fabrics her friend had bought back from Zanzibar. Darcy had a seascape on sale this summer and it just sold; someone else called to buy it so she made this seascape for her.

Marilyn C golfed this summer so did a golf wall hanging. She liked a quilt Ella had made so she did one too!

Susan Arbeau was busy with this one!

Debbie C did this from a kit she ordered called Black Tie Affair. Her husbanded grumbled about all the scraps that were left over so she made him pillowcases.

Kathy A is doing quilts for her grandchildren for Christmas. This one is called Lazy Daisy and was quilted by Joan Gamble. The next one, called Labyrinth Walk, is for a grandson - also quilted by Joan.

Diane did this pillow with “green work”

Nelvana did a “Take Five” quilt for a grandson and the other called “Stacks” using layer cakes for his sister. She quilts by hand and is going to do five s gifts before Christmas.

Christa G used a pattern out of the library to do this quilt. This was all done out of stash material except for the beige.

Joyce explained the quilt she had on display was one her mom did for her that is all cross stitched.

Janet B made another necessary clutch in one of Gail Mitchell’s classes at the Ville.

2016 Summer Fun Day

Melanie and Marilyn once again thought of a great way to have a fun and to get to know our quilting friends even better.  We now know who are the competitive members, the ones with great sense of humour, best imaginations,  and innovative.  A scavenger hunt had us searching for items and clues and recording them all digitally.  There were bonus questions and bonus photos to take.  We ended with a supper and photo display at O'Dell Lodge. It was a great day!!!
