Together Again
She explained the steps for inking quilt labels including types of pens, templates, fabric, and other tips. She uses a light table which she explains is easier on the body that tracing on the window. A light table can be homemade - a piece of window glass propped up with a light underneath, or purchased.
Members have received a handout via email with further information. So let's get inking.
Challenge for our next meeting is to bring two 4 patch blocks - one should be traditional and one modern (whatever those terms mean to you). Elaine has a way of getting us thinking!
The meeting ended with sharing of projects. Leann has finished a bear and a bag which she made of blue strips that she had won.
Gisele got together with Debby and Ella to have a go at paper piecing a tree wallhanging. Gisele has hers finished, stay tuned to see the others.
Susan A. shared a large snowflake quilt.
Melanie found a bag pattern online. Because it opens so wide it will be very useful.
Betty has completed a scrappy granny square quilt.
Betty has also finished a row by row machine quilting on her home machine quilt. It involved getting directions for one row each month and featured online instruction. I tried a couple of close ups so the designs can be seen better.
Finally Debbi D had her completed cube illusion on the wall. I think we have not shown this quilt before. Greeters are encouraged to bring quilted pieces to add interest to the surroundings.

Summer Stitching
As summer winds down, first off a note about our first in person meeting in 18 months. Because of the federal election advance poll, we will be meeting on the Tuesday, September 14th - usual place, usual time. Mask wearing is a personal choice.
Here is some of our summer stitching. We have 2 new comfort quilts - made by Gisele and Susan A. I understand Susan had also done a second one which was passed on without having its picture taken. Thank you, girls!
Linda has been busy. So great to have a basement sewing room where it is cool through the summer. First a cross stitch baby quilt that she hand quilted.
Linda has made a variety of table runners. Have a look.
Posy table runner
Scrappy stars
A UFO finally completed
And a picnic quilt or table topper. Thank you to Christa for the colourful strips!
Diane has also made an advent calendar for her granddaughter.
Diane made her own design for her Row-By-Row quilt. She chose an "At the Seashore" theme - pinwheels, stars, beach houses, sailing ships, swimming fish and snail trails. Each row is custom quilted to suit the design. Very summery!
Heather has made a quilt for her son to use on the ship, the HMCS Goose Bay. Note the bunk above his has the standard navy issued blanket. The quilt has been traveling to Newfoundland and Greenland this summer. How wonderful to have that little bit of home with him.
Christa has made a quilt for her neighbour who is quite ill. It is a large single as he is quite tall. She had it machine quilted by Gisele.
