Retreat at Villa Madonna February 2015

Below are some candid shots as well as the Show & Tell from our retreat. Everyone had a wonderful time even if not everyone had enough sleep. Everyone was asked to take four strips of fabric for our retreat project. The top was mostly completed at the retreat, Ruth finished it the following day and then and Elaine is adding the piano key border.  Nancy will quilt it and then we will all sell tickets on it.

January Workday for Hospice Quilts

We completed one quilt top and finished a number of blocks for another top. Plus, we had a fun day!

We did not work on this quilt but it is another comfort quilt completed during
our jelly roll race last year.

January 12, 2015

Despite a nasty night for travel we had a fairly good turnout. We did not have Program but will invite Kim McClusky back another evening for the "From the Heart" program. During our business meeting we announced the dates for our quilt show. It will be held May 22 & 23, 2015 at the Riverside Resort.

A few Tips and Tricks that were shared:
  • Toni – cut the tips off rubber gloves for help pulling needles through fabrics.
  • Jean Newell posted - use an emory board to act as a ruler when drawing lines on a half square triangle. It won’t move on you.
  • Sandra - use a zigzag stitch or serge along the edge of a fabric before washing so that it won’t fray.

December Christmas Event

This December KRQ decided to have a dessert social at our meeting. We hosted the event at Keswick Ridge United Church and decorated the area for the evening. After a few quick business items were dealt with we moved on to sample some desserts.

After dessert we had a game to get to know each other better, we exchanged our homemade Christmas ornaments and secret pal gifts. We introduced our UFO Contract, our new cookbook and our Quilt Show Challenge. We are all looking forward to seeing finished projects and inspired ideas for the challenge.
