November 2015 Workshop
Brenda Dunsmore provided an excellent day on the Quilt-as-you-go Bargello Table Runner. We all worked steadily throughout the day and cannot wait to show off our finished projects.
KRQ November 2015 Meeting
This month John Little from Briggs & Little Woolen Mill joined us for our program. The company has been in operation at York Mills near Harvey Station since 1857! Next June their family will celebrate that his family have been in the business for 100 years. In the last Olympics, the Canadian team sported their wool in the closing ceremony sweaters. John gave a brief history of the mill, wool making and some of their products. You can take a virtual tour of the mill on their website.
Many of our members completed placemats for Meals on Wheels and we will reach our goal of 140 placemats!
Comfort and Hospice quilts - we have completed at least 12 hospice quilts and most of the other tops as well as several comfort quilts to have on hand. A few are pictured below.
Continuing with Show and Tell..............
Kathy A says it took her several years to embroider and hand quilt the one above but the one below was completed in a week and features "Frozen" for her granddaughters Christmas gift with fabric from her Port Elgin shopping spree.
Many of our members completed placemats for Meals on Wheels and we will reach our goal of 140 placemats!
Our workshop in October was well attended and bags, casserole covers and
oven mitts/trivets were finished.
Our program challenge theme for last month was "Orange and Black"

Janet completed a UFO - an iron caddy from last years workshop
Carolyn made this for a Christmas gift for a girl.
Nelvana's beautiful quilt was done for her son to give as a gift to friends in Ottawa. She hand quilted it in three weeks!
Debbie did several table runner and placemats using a 60 degree triangle and border fabric.

Jo made several bags, a quilt as you go quilt for her granddaughter and the "Double Slice"
quilt below that was quilted by Penny Bubar.
Elaine ahs taken several Kathy Tidswel courses this fall including thread painting and then a beginning landscape course.

KRQ October 2015 Meeting
This month for our program we had four guests from the Woodstock Guild: Sue
Hayden, Trish Robinson, Sandra Culberson and Bonnie Sproull. They were
delightful!
They displayed some amazing work and inspired us all with their ideas....we may even see some barn quilts next year!
This month's program challenge theme was sunflowers. What great participation and
each one so different!
And last but not least, our Show and Tell
