March 2014

At our March meeting Joan Baldwin from Victoria Quilts visited and talked about how the organization began and has grown, the different needs and how we can help, how donated quilts are used, various patterns typically used.  We then saw a large number of quilt tops and some finished quilts that were being delivered to people in the area.

Diane shared the quilt that was hand quilted at retreat.  The quilt had been pieced by Joyce and is being donated to Alzheimer's Society as that was one of Joyce's favorite charities.  Joyce had sewn many scarfs, bags and quilts and donated funds to her charities.

This is the finished quilt and label attached to it.

The banner made for Keswick Ridge School was shown. Sandra C donated the yellow and blue fabric. Christa G cut out the letters. Pat A appliqued the letters. Sandra will finish by making the side sleeves to fit the poles. Thank you, ladies. It is a nice thank you to the school for allowing the guild to use their facility from time to time for workshops free of charge.

Following program and our meeting we enjoyed our Show and Tell.

February 2014

The Keswick Ridge Quilters met on February 10, 2014 at the Riverside Resort.

Connie Fullerton shared a small mountain of quilts of all sizes, including miniatures made from those leftover triangles we often throw away. All were given ideas for future projects. Many took the opportunity to speak to Connie at break time.

Show & Tell followed the program and meeting.

January 2014

January 13, 2014

In January our guest speaker was Barbara Cross. Barbara shared large quilts and smaller projects such as aprons, muffin mufflers, bags, and placemats. A very enjoyable presentation!

Our Show & Tell followed the meeting and program.

November 11, 2013

In October, we had decided to have our festive meal in January rather than December. Unfortunately it was forgotten that we had another program already booked for January so this is not possible. There will be an option of  tea or coffee and dessert provided by the hotel  for a small cost as well as a free will offering, the proceeds being donated to the school breakfast programs at Keswick Ridge School and Keswick Valley Memorial School.

At our November meeting, Jackie B  from NB College of Craft and Design did a presentation on wool, fiber and fleece. She explained about different kinds of wool, and we learned tidbits about spinning, felting, dyeing, and weaving.

October 14, 2013

The Keswick Ridge Quilters met on Thanksgiving Monday at the Riverside Resort. The main event of the evening was a program of sharing of first and latest quilts made by an individual. Many members shared.   The evening wound up with our Show & Tell.  Next month we will have pictures of all our works available again!

Thanks for your patience as we work through the process of learning how to blog and getting our camera ready!
