March 2024 (yes March!) Program details and show and tell- Guest Blogger Carlinda D

Thanks to Carlinda for all her work here! she submitted this back in April but unfortunately time flew - my apologies Carlinda and all!

The program this evening was centred around embroidery. There were three stations set up with wonderful information at each. Ruth had a display of the mini lovely items she embroiders. She shared with us the types of needles fabric and stabilizers that she uses. She gave us all a little flower to, take away and embroider on our own time. Joyce had a hands on technique for us complete with fabric batting needles and floss. It was the stem stitch that she was showing us. Pam had the third station and she showed us some of the work that she did using embroidery. She had a beautiful Red and cream quilt that she used long stitching on and it was the perfect accent. Pam gave a few of us in our group, the idea of drawing lines on a piece of fabric, which we could stitch while watching TV and later make a pillow. Great job, Heather and Toni on the program.

March 11 Show and Tell

The theme for this evenings meeting and show and tell was embroidery.   We had a great program with three stations set up with something different at each to introduce or refresh us all on the craft of embroidery.  We sure have some talented ladies in our guild.

March 11 Show and Tell

The theme for this evenings meeting and show and tell was embroidery.   We had a great program with three stations set up with something different at each to introduce or refresh us all on the craft of embroidery.  We sure have some talented ladies in our guild.

Reta did this lovely floral embrodiery.  The red really makes this piece pop.

Pat shared this blue embroidered doily with us.  She said it is something to do while watching TV.

Christa is holding up a lovely floral embroidery piece that Pat did.  Flowers and embroidery go hand in hand I believe.

These beauties hang in Patès kitchen.  Canèt hink of a better place for them.

Melanie gathered the fabric from the comfort quilt bin and simply put a border around it and it looks great.

This is one of the few pieces that Linda brought to show the ladies this evening.  This is a tablecloth that likely was on her kitchen table at one time.  The second picture is a close up of the tablecloth.

Another pretty quilt by Linda.  She was definitely on a roll this past month.  The teal sashing adds to this quilt.

This baby quilt has embroidery all over it.  The cow was cute.

Joyce S finished her Dresden Neighborhood and the colors are wonderful.  This was a workshop that we did back in October last year I believe.

This is another one of Joyce's workshop completed projects.  This one was the Mini Charm Christmas Tree pattern from Moda Fabrics.  It was so nice to see everyone's variation of the pattern.  This is a colorful one Joyce.

This is a beautiful piece and you had to see it in person to appreciate the detail and work that went into it.  The clothes on the line weren't attached.  A gorgeous piece to hang anywhere.

Jodi has been working on these little monthly embroidered squares.  It is something to do while watching mindless TV and we all know there is a lot of that to choose from out there.

This quilt was affectionaly known as Grandma's Babysitter.  The reason being is that it was heavy as all get out and if Grandma put you under it there was no way you were going anywhere.  This was made with the wool army blankets in the middle for warmth.

My apologies for the poor lighting on this picture.  Debbi did a wonderful job on this piece that looks like it took awhile to complete.

This is a comfort quilt donated by Betty D's.  The colors are soft yet complimentary.  Beautiful colors.

These two are the same quilt just a different color scheme.  This is another one of Betty D's contribution to the Comfort Quilts

Here are two more comfort quilts that were handed to Joyce this evening during the meeting.  The one block wonder is a lovely coral color and it will look great on someone's lap or bed.

This is a close up of a quilt that Christa hand embroidered close to if not over 200 stitches one winter while down south.  She has a book that gives descriptions and instructions on these stitched beauties.  You really need to see it in person to appreciate all of the time and handwork that went into it.

Thank you all for taking the time to check out our March Show and Tell.

Thank you Carlinda- you are a treasure!
